How to win friends and influence people
When you hear the title of the book you think Dale Carnegie is trying to teach you how to control other people but from the first page you realise that this book does the opposite, it teaches you how to ensure that people feel they are in control. The first thing that Dale brings to the reader’s attention is the fact that we all feel like we are right and justified in doing whatever we are doing. I Think he was trying to tells us that we all have reasons why we think what we think and do what we do. The first point that came to me was that if we feel like our beliefs are being challenged we are going to fight tooth and nail to defend them, however if the person we are talking to acknowledges that there is sense in what we talking about and Marely suggest that it can be done better for our good we are going to listen to them. The idea here is to encourage people to be on your side because non of us what to feel like someone is making us do what we don’t what to do, the author suggest that the only way you can win friends and influence people is to make them really want to do what you need them to do even if you are not there.
This book if filled with tips on how to make sure that other people are not embarrassed in conversation because we all have different back grounds and beliefs and people have been taught a certain way all their life so the worst thing you can do is tell them they have been wrong all this time. The main message in this book is treat others as you like to be treated. Dale you got it right! The only way to get people to like you is by making them feel important, in the words of Zig Ziglar, you can get everything in life you want if you can help enough other people get what they want. Whenever I am doing any business negotiations this book will always be with me, if you deal with people on daily basis, this book is a must read.
